My service learning experience

Service-learning is often linked to school and college courses, and inspires these educational organizations to build strong partnerships with community-based organizations. Service-learning can also be organized and offered by community organizations with learning objectives or structured reflection activities for their participants. When i teach grade five students for volunteer, i really learn a lot of this activity. As a member of the society and a graduate students at the university, it is my responsibility to enhance the whole socity's knowledge and skill level.

Plans for Growth and Development

I think that networking is very important for businesses. CBET provides us a lot of networking opportunities for meeting all kinds of different leaders. We really get a chance to improve our networking. However, i have to try to attend more meetings as i can becuase all the meeting provide many opportunities for networking. Also, i have to improve my self-management skills. Sometimes, when i have a lot of assignments to do at the same time, i cannot manage it very well. And often i will forget some assignments. Therefore, i think i should write some notes in case i forget the assignments.

My life in MBET and Other Academic Pursuits

Since i came to CBET, i really enjoy this learning environment. Everyone is very friendly and treat each other well. I am always trying to work harder and enjoy the environment of MBET. I graduate from Trent University with a BBA degree this summer.

Introduce myself

My name is Lingwei Zhang. I am a current graduate student at the CBET program in the University of Waterloo. I really enjoy playing soccer and video games. I would also like to travel a lot. I usually like to watch NBA games, read novel and write business plans. I was participate in many volunteer jobs, such as i taught grade five students business classes.

the online video is interesting to watch. Through YouTube and Google Video, i find many funny videoes. I enjoy those videoes very much. But i think that there are actually some differences between the two online services. For YouTube, i find that there are more useful and detailed functions than Google Video. For instance, all videoes have been devided into many categories such as comedy and sports. And there are many ways people can deal with the video such as they can share the videoes or save as favourites. Although Google Video does not provide as many functions as YouTube does, it is a interesting online service. Google Video also provides some functions for people to deal with the online videoes such as adding tags for videoes. Both services provide people the HTML link which could help people to embed the videoes on their blogs. People can also save the online videoes from the two services, but i think it is easier to use Google Video to download videoes. YouTube is becoming a very popular online tool for people to use. People can find any videoes related to any topics from YouTube and also transfer their videoes to YouTube. Those features make YouTube become so successful today. Meanwhile, i find many ways that people could save YouTube videoes to their computer; for instance, people only have to paste the video URL to YouTube Downloader; and they save the URL as 'flv'; then they are able to get the video and they can watch it through flv player. By comparing the high definition and standard definition of the videoes, there is no doubt that the HD is much more clear than the standard definition. For instance, in terms of the width and hight of a display, HD has a 16:9 or 1.78:1, but the standard format is only 4:3 or 1.33:1. From the statistics, we know the reason that why HD provides us a clear version than standard format. I think the HD involves in more digital effort than the standard one. I found many new and interesting movies in the website which i haven't heard of. I would definitely go watch them as soon as i can. i enjoy watching movies a lot. For example, the movie called'Oceans 13' is really funny and it keeps me interested the whole way through the trailer; the movie'the rise of silver surfer' is a fabulous movie which attracts me more attention.

wow...this is a really interesting on line tool. I enjoy it a lot. By putting our personal goals and dreams on the website, we could keep all these goals in mind. People could put every single goal on the website and they can update or change the goals whenever they want. When we open the website, the website will remind us. So we could always keep working hard in order to achieve the personal goals. This website is the most useful and interesting on line tool. I will use it in everyday life and try to let it remind me to work hard and achieve goals. I think by using this website, it is a really good idea for people to remind themselves. To those who want to achieve ambitious goals, this website could be really helpful. People will want to keep trying new things once they achieve one goal. This is a really good example of 'digital culture'. People can use digital tools to accomplish their goals. We can see that digital tool is very important in our daily lives. Today, more and more things have to be solved by digital tools. As long as people truly understand the importance of 'digital culture', they will be successful in the future. Since it is a digital culture course, as a university student, we also have to do tasks digitally.

actually, i think that podcast is a really useful tool for people to use. People can listen to whatever they want and fully enjoy the content. It is more like a radio show that includes wide range of topics. If people like comedy, they can choose the related topics on podcast. I find that podcast is a really interesting on line tool. i enjoy the radio show because the expression is in a funny way. I will definitely often use it in the future. It makes feel relaxed and comfortable. By simply clicking the button, they can enjoy the book on line. It is easy to use. Meanwhile, i think it is really useful for the classes. Teachers can use all kinds of materials from the audio book to teach in the classes. It is very convenient for teachers. But overall speaking, the two kinds of on line tools are useful for people. People can also listen to the readings or radio shows through lots of media tools, such as they can listen directly through the websies or they can use i Tunes to listen or they can use RSS feeds to listen.

Until now, I think i find the most useful and interesting web tool when i am doing the Lab 7 assignment. The two sites are unbelievable. The on line generator brings people a lot useful images and functions to use. Compared to the two sites, i really the second one-the on line image generator. I can do what ever i want to design and create my own pictures by using the different functions. For instance, i can design the magazine poster by using my own picture. However, i think the generator blog is also useful. People can create a beautiful blog by using their own pictures as blog background; and people can also put their name or pictures on different images, then they could put the images on their blogs. I think that both of them are easy to use as long as people really enjoy them. I don't think this kind of application is wasting of time. This application is useful for people who are doing on line tasks. And also for people who get free time or enjoy on line designing, this application can be helpful for them to relax and use. I did find other sites which are similar to the two sites. For instance,http://cooltext.com/and http://logos.petrucci.ch/. People can also use all kind of applications to design their own image. But anyway, i really enjoy this two sites, and i will use them in the future. By using them, i think i got a lot on line experience.

To be honest, i think the Flickr is the best website tool i have never seen. When people get Flickr account, they can do a lot of interesting on line tasks. For instance, they can put their favourite photoes to the public, so their friends can share them through the Flickr group; the Flickr allows people to label their content or photoes any way they wish. It is a wonderful website. Many people make or develop many application for Mash-ups by using the useful and interesting content or function of the Flickr. By looking at some of the Flickr Mach-ups, i think some of them are really good. I really love one of the Mash-ups by David Troy. Every single country is on the map. And people can find any interesting shared photoes by only click the country name; they will know where the person or photo comes from. There is another blog designed by Jim. I would say this is also a fabulous mach-up. There are all kinds of different photoes with many different colours. Some of the colours are unbelievable. Finally, there is amach-up which contains many different samll pictures. The person who puts all those photoes designs a game. People have to use all kinds of photoes to play the game. It is a funny game. All those applications from the Flickr are very interesting. People could get a intergrated experience from the mach-ups which combines content from more than one source.
